Activities:

Quality Control of medicinal products:

The primary activity is concerned with the control of medicinal products entering Polish pharmaceutical market (Polish products as well as foreign) - OMCL type of activity.

Quality Assurance:

  • implementation of Quality System according to PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2001standard,
  • elaboration of standard operating procedures and instructions.

Educational activity:

Lectures for PhD students conducted at:

  • Nicolas Copernicus University,Toruń,
  • Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań,
  • Warsaw University,
  • Warsaw University of Technology
  • Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences

Research

Studies of intra- and intermolecular interaction by NMR are being used to solve general problems of pharmacochemistry and medical chemistry. Those studies involve:

  • Drugs structure
  • Interaction of drugs with biomolecules (DNA oligomers)
  • Mechanisms of drugs actions in complexes with bioconjugates.
  • Molecular modelling of drugs complexes with biomolecules. The thermodynamical parameters calculation concerning the bioorganic complexes using MD methods.

Research projects

Research projects since 2000:

  • Grant KBN 4 P05F 014 19

Development of the structure of the drugs which are active against multi-drug resistant cancers. 1999 - 2001   Researcher: Lech Kozerski

  • Grant KBN 4 PO5F 037 15

Studies of Pt complexes with selected ligands with biological application. Searching for the drugs with increased anticancer activity. 2000 - 2003. Consultant : Lech Kozerski

NIZP scientific plan for 2005:

  • Structural studies of chemical and biochemical species and intermolecular interactions involving compounds of pharmaceutical application and biological oligomers in solution. Studies by NMR aided by molecular modelling.
  • Characterization of ligands, biomolecules, and their complexes by NMR in solution.
  • Studies by NMR on metal organic ligand complexes in water and organic solvents, possessing potential pharmacological activity.
  • General structural studies by NMR concerning compounds with potential pharmacological application.

Cooperation

Close cooperation is carried out with

  • The Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences which have the NMR facilities: Bruker DRX 500 MHz AVANCE, 400 MHz Varian Mercury and 200 MHz Varian GEMINI 2000.
  • Sheffield University, GB (Prof. Dr. M.P. Williamson) and Roskilde University, DK (Prof. Dr. P.E. Hansen) providing the access to 800 MHz spectra.

Services:

NMR spectra for customers from pharmaceutical, medical and academic institutions.

Equipment

  • Varian INOVA 500 MHz spectrometer;
  • Indirect detection  Nalorac probe, broadband ( S/N, 900:1, 1-H );
  • VT unit operating in a range 30 to +150oC;
  • Air conditioning in NMR room ą 0.3 oC securing longterm acquisition of biological samples in water without artifact ( T1 noise, diagonals, etc.)
  • Silicon Graphics Origin computer with 10 processors which is used for  molecular modelling studies
